The short answer

Tierra del Fuego National Park fits comfortably into most port days: shore excursions run about 4 to 5.5 hours and meet you at the port, and the main thing to check is how each one handles your all-aboard time. Prices start from $90 per person. On nearly every shore excursion the national park fee is extra, and so is the End of the World Train unless the listing says otherwise.

How long you need ashore

The shared shore excursions on this page run between about 4 and 5.5 hours from the port and back. The Viator tours listed above run 4 to 5 hours, and the GetYourGuide cruise tour about 5 hours. Add the time it takes to get off the ship and back on, and a port call of around 6 hours or more is comfortable. One private shore tour says you need 6 hours in Ushuaia to fit it in.

If your ship is in port for only 3 to 4 hours, a full park tour is tight. The shortest tours here still run about 4 hours.

Return to the ship

This is the question cruise passengers ask most, and the listings answer it differently. Read the meeting point and the notes before you book.

• The National Park and Ushuaia City Tour Shore Excursion says its tour is adjusted to your ship’s departure time and that punctual return to the ship is guaranteed. It also says the tour will not start earlier if the ship arrives early.
• The Shore Excursion, National Park begins 45 to 60 minutes after the ship arrives and is designed to fit the length of the port stop.
• The End of the World Shore Excursion with Train sets its departure time around your ship’s arrival and confirms the details by WhatsApp after you book.
• The GetYourGuide cruise tour returns to the Tourist Port. Its notes suggest keeping your all-aboard time in mind, and one traveller advises reminding the guide of it.

None of these is run by your cruise line. Whether you sail with Holland America, Celebrity or another line, an independent tour depends on its own arrangements, so give the operator your ship’s arrival and departure times when you book.

The Explore Tierra del Fuego National Park (Shore Tour) is sold to cruise passengers only. It runs in small groups, meets you inside the port at your ship’s gangway, not at the main port entrance, and returns you inside the harbour by the port entrance. It is rated 5.0 from 31 reviews on Viator. The Ushuaia Shore Excursions: National Park also collects you from the gangway inside the harbour, includes a picnic stop in Cañadón del Toro, and lets you finish in the city centre or back at the ship. It is rated 4.8 from 89 reviews on Viator, from $120 per person.

The park fee: extra on almost every tour

Every visitor needs a Tierra del Fuego National Park ticket: ARS 40,000 per foreign visitor since 1 June 2026, with children aged 0 to 6 free. You can buy it online in advance at ventaweb.apn.gob.ar or pay at the gate. One shore tour asks you to pay at the gate by card.

The one shore excursion on this page whose price includes the park fee is the Shore Excursion, National Park, from $90 per person with pickup at the cruise pier. It is a shared tour for up to 40 travellers, rated 4.4 from 176 reviews on Viator. It does not include the train. Some listings still quote an older park fee in dollars. Should you add the train on a port day?

The End of the World Train runs from its own station 8 km from central Ushuaia, 1 km before the park gate. The full round trip takes about 1 hour 45 minutes, and on a tour you usually ride one way into the park, which agencies put at about an hour. The station asks riders to check in 45 minutes before departure.

On a port day that has two effects. It uses a large part of a short visit, and it depends on getting a seat. From September to April trains leave at 9:30, 12:00 and 15:00, and the busiest period is December to February. For the 2026/27 season about 572 cruise ship movements are expected between September and April, and December, January and February together account for about 62% of them. Train seats in those months can sell out.

Booking ahead

Booking before you sail is sensible, especially from December to February, when most ships call and the train sells out. Three of the four Viator shore tours above offer free cancellation. The train tour is final sale, as is the private per-group shore tour. The GetYourGuide cruise tour can be cancelled free up to 24 hours ahead.
