Neither figure includes the national park entry fee, and none of the private tours on this page includes the End of the World Train.

On a shared tour the van, the stops and the timings are set for everyone. A private tour gives your group its own guide and vehicle, and the day bends around you. The listings spell this out in slightly different ways.

The Tierra del Fuego National Park Private Tour with a guide-naturalist is built around walking and nature, adapted to your interests and fitness, with snacks and tea or coffee included. It runs about 6 hours and is rated 5.0 from 65 reviews on Viator. The Low-cost National Park Private Tour offers to shape the day around photography, hiking, bird watching or reduced mobility. The 5-Hour National Park and City Tour (Private) adds a drive through Ushuaia with photo stops before the park, and a snack stop at a café in the forest. Its listing says it is wheelchair accessible.

In practice, private means:

• Your own pace. Linger at Lake Roca or skip a stop that does not interest you.
• More walking, if you want it. Active groups can be taken onto trails that a shared van tour has no time for.
• Less walking, if you prefer. The same guide can plan a day of short scenic stops.
• Better photography. You stop where the light is good, and no one is waiting on the bus.

Per person or per group: how the prices compare

This is where private tours are easy to misread. Some are priced per person, and the per-person rate usually changes with the size of your party. Others are priced per group, so the price covers everyone in the booking.

For a solo traveller the per-group tours are the easiest to compare. The GetYourGuide private tour starts at $400 for a party of one, and it cost $450 for one person on 8 October 2026. The per-group Viator tour is $449. For two or more people the per-person cost of a per-group tour falls, so check the price for your party size in the booking calendar.

The per-person private tours work the other way round. The “from” price is quoted per head and depends on group size, so a couple may not pay the headline $200 or $245 each. What private does not change

A private guide does not get you into the park for free. The national park entry fee is ARS 40,000 per foreign visitor since 1 June 2026, and children aged 0 to 6 go in free. You can buy it online from the national parks service at ventaweb.apn.gob.ar or pay at the gate. If you come back within 72 hours, a second day is half price, but only on tickets bought online. The one exception on this page is the Private Shore Excursion, National Park, whose listing includes national park tickets along with port pickup. One Viator listing still quotes an old park fee in dollars. The ARS 40,000 figure is the current one.

The End of the World Train is extra on all of these. On the GetYourGuide private tour you can enter the park by train for about an hour if you ask the operator in advance and buy the ticket on the day. The private tour on GetYourGuide

It picks you up at your hotel, stops in the Pipo River valley before the park, and then runs as either a walking day or a sightseeing day, depending on your group. Private tours for cruise passengers

If you arrive by ship, a private tour that starts inside the port is simpler than one that collects you from a hotel. The National Park Private Shore Excursion picks you up inside the harbour and runs about 5 hours, from $273 per person. Its listing asks for at least 6 hours in Ushuaia and your ship’s schedule, and it does not include the train ticket or the park fee. Who a private tour suits

A private tour makes most sense for families who want to go at a child’s pace, for photographers, for keen walkers who want more trail time than a shared tour allows, and for anyone with reduced mobility who needs stops planned around them. It also makes sense for groups large enough that a per-group price works out close to a shared tour.

A shared tour is the better fit if you are travelling alone on a budget and are happy with the standard stops. If walking is the main point, the hiking and canoeing tours add a full day on foot and on the water.
