What is extra

Three things are not in the price, and all three are worth planning for.

The national park entry fee is ARS 40,000 per foreign visitor since 1 June 2026, and children aged 0 to 6 enter free. You can buy it online from the national parks service at ventaweb.apn.gob.ar or pay at the gate. Everyone on the train needs it too, even though the train station stands just outside the park. Food and drinks are extra. The listing plans a break in central Ushuaia between the park and the boat, and that is the time to eat.

There is no transfer back to your hotel after the boat. The minibus leaves you in the centre at midday, and the boat returns to the Tourist Port in the late afternoon. Plan how you will get from the port back to your hotel.

The order of the day

The listing sets the day out in two halves, and this is the sequence it gives.

In the morning a minibus collects you from your hotel. The drive is about 45 minutes on the itinerary. The train ride of about an hour comes early in the day, and the tour continues by road inside the park. From there the guide leads stops of about 30 minutes each at Lapataia Bay, where Route 3 ends at the famous sign, Lake Roca (now officially Lake Acigami), the Alakush Visitor Center and Ensenada Zaratiegui, a cove on the channel. Ensenada can be reached only from about mid-October to mid-May; outside those months the group spends the time at the other viewpoints. The End of the World Post Office there is often closed, so expect to see the building from outside.

Around midday the minibus drops you in central Ushuaia for free time. The listing’s itinerary shows a break of about 45 minutes, and the Tourist Port is a few blocks away.

At 2:15 pm the boat leaves. It passes Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse, Isla de los Pájaros and the sea lion island, with a photo stop at the island the listing calls “H”. After about 3 hours on the water you return to the Tourist Port with views of the town and the mountains behind it.

A few reviewers found the handover between the two halves confusing. One spent almost an hour finding the boat. The operator’s reply says the boat has its own guide on board and that it sends written directions with the exact location, so keep that message to hand at lunchtime.

The penguin option

The listing offers a longer 5-hour navigation that visits a penguin colony as well as the other sights. The penguin season it gives is about mid-October to the end of March, and if penguins are a priority it advises choosing the 5-hour option. The standard 3-hour boat trip does not go to the colony. The penguin option’s price is shown in the booking calendar; we have only the 3-hour figure above for early October.

A longer navigation also means a later finish. Allow for that if you have dinner plans or an evening flight.

Weather and the boat

The park half goes ahead in cold and snow, and the train runs every day of the year, cancelling only in extreme weather. The boat half is different. One reviewer in September 2026 had the navigation cancelled, and the operator’s reply explains that channel conditions come first. Pack warm, windproof and waterproof layers for the water in every month. Closed-toe shoes are required; sandals and open-toed shoes are not allowed.

Who the day suits

The combined day suits you if you have one full day in Ushuaia and want both the park and the channel without arranging two bookings. It suits first-time visitors, travellers in town for a day before or after an Antarctic voyage, and anyone who wants the train included in the price.

It is less suited to wheelchair users, since the listing marks it as unsuitable, and to anyone who wants a slow day. The park stops are about half an hour each. For a cruise call, the operator asks for your ship’s arrival and departure times, and the 8.5-hour length means it fits only a ship that stays in port all day.
