Best Tierra del Fuego National Park Tours from Ushuaia

Tierra del Fuego National Park starts about 11 km west of Ushuaia, on the last stretch of Route 3. It is the only national park in Argentina where the sea coast and the mountains meet, and most visitors see it on a guided half-day tour from town. What a standard park tour covers

Almost every shared tour from Ushuaia follows the same shoreline route. The van collects you from your hotel, drives west on Route 3 and makes three main stops:

• Ensenada Zaratiegui, a small bay on the Beagle Channel. The End of the World Post Office stands on its pier, but it is often closed, so treat it as a photo stop.
• Lake Acigami, still signposted and widely known as Lake Roca. Most tours walk a short stretch of its shore.
• Lapataia Bay, where Route 3 ends at the sign giving the distances to Buenos Aires and Alaska. Boardwalks lead out over the water and the surrounding peat bog.

Train or no train

The official round trip takes about 1 hour 45 minutes, including a 20-minute stop at La Macarena waterfall.

The fee almost no tour includes

The national park charges its own entry fee, and nearly every tour lists it as an extra. Since 1 June 2026 it is ARS 40,000 for foreign visitors, and children aged 6 and under enter free. You can pay at the gate or buy online from the national parks service. Online tickets also get 50% off a second visit within 72 hours. When to go

The park and the train are open all year. December to February brings the longest days, with more than 17 hours of daylight around the solstice. It is also the busiest time, when cruise ships fill Ushuaia’s port. From June to September there is snow on most days of the month and only about seven hours of daylight at midwinter. The long trails are closed, but the shoreline stops and the train still run, and a guided tour with transport is the easy way to see the park in snow.
